Weddings and Grandchildren
Next to graduations, weddings are one of the most joyous occasions in life,
Granted theyâre costly, Walter was willing to put the money into Alexandraâs wedding.
She was the first one to get married out of the two of them,
She got married in her late 20s after she established herself in her career.
Getting through grad school was taxing on her mentally and emotionally,
She knew she wanted to get immersed into her career while still looking for her soulmate.
Byron her husband is an amazing man and reminds me so much of Walter,
They say a child will marry close to what their parents are and thatâs the case most of the time.
Planning a wedding was a lot but the good thing was they wanted something small and quaint,
Nothing extravagant and with hundreds of people, just their closest family and friends.
It made things much easier for them since they were saving to buy a house,
That was on their list of things to accomplish and they were relentless in the process.
With 20 closest family members and friends on each side of the family,
It allowed for us to have plenty of space to move around at the hall they had the wedding.
Alexandraâs wedding was beautiful, she was glowing and it brought a tear to my eye,
Watching Walter walk her down the aisle and giving Byron the stamp of approval.
It wouldnât be long after the wedding where we found out Alexandra was pregnant,
Walter and I were going to be grandparents for the first time and we were filled with joy in our hearts.
Our first grandchild was Brandon and he was precious,
The time spent with him was nothing short of glorious and beautiful.
Watching him grow was so much fun and playing with him,
Along with spoiling him and buying him so many nice things.
These are the moments weâre supposed to live for in life,
Love is what conquers all but itâs not something I see where I live anymore.
With Aaron, he married in his early 30s and that was due to dating struggles,
He was busy looking for perfection and I told him no one will be.
Iâm glad he took his time though, the world has changed significantly,
Finding friendships and relationships where thereâs comfort and people have morals and values is imperative.
He would marry Shannon who is a wonderful woman,
They would have a daughter Tasha first before getting married.
Soon after they were married and tied the knot, they would have another child,
A boy who was named Aaron, Jr. and it made perfect sense because he looked just like his father.
With three grandchildren running around, I was a busy grandmother,
Walter had already retired but he dealt with operations of his businesses from time to time.
Weâd go on a few family vacations and spend the holidays together,
One Christmas we left town, went to the mountains and was in a cabin for a few days.
I tell these stories of my life for a purpose and a reason,
As youâre reading this, youâre probably wondering, what does this have to do with Alphabet City?
What does
